Why Chose a Pickup Truck Over a Car

December 1st, 2010

People dream of having their very own vehicles to drive around. They work hard for many years trying to save money to buy one. Cars and other vehicles are not just a necessity. They can be symbols of someone’s efforts or a gift to oneself for all the hard work done.

Banks and other financial companies have made it easy for people to acquire their own cars and achieve their dreams early by granting them car loans that are subjected to interest rates that are determined by the banks themselves.

Choosing a car can be difficult when the resources are not that much. Careful consideration must be done and multiple canvassing should be made first to ensure that the best choice is one that is worth every cent paid and one that will last. Usually when financing is done through a bank or any lending agency, they have certain requirements that include the model of a car, and how long it has been running. Most banks only approve loans for brand new vehicles or maybe at times approve loans for cars that have been recovered from other client’s loans whose payments have not been completed due to incapacity.

When one has a dream car, tendency is to save up until he reaches the exact cost of the car and then go on and complete a sale. However for others whose funds are limited by their incomes or by the amount of loans granted by the banks or through other means of financing, there is a very slim chance of getting that dream car but settle for one that has a price that can be accommodated by what the bank has allowed.

Pickup trucks are more expensive compared to cars but they have many advantages. The fact that they can carry heavy loads, tow other vehicles whose engines have sputtered out and simply accommodate things that other cars and vehicles are not capable of taking in is enough to convince a person to purchase one for his own convenience.

Cars are small and easy to maneuver but they don’t have the capacity to accommodate things that a pickup truck can normally carry. The big space at the back of the pickup truck even allows people to sit and have a ride too. New pickup trucks are manufactured to have all the comforts that a car or an SUV have. So they are never far off when the issue of comfort is being considered.

Pickup trucks like the new Toyota Hilux are very spacious and have many luxurious features that any driver and his passengers would surely appreciate. Gone were the days when pickup trucks were mainly used to carry loads, gone were the times when they were used solely for that purpose. Over the years people have found the many other uses and advantages that pickup trucks have brought about. People have come to appreciate its durability and power that can last through the years.

Manufacturing companies and PicknBuy24.com have applied new innovations in the production of pickup trucks. With so many studies on safety and comfort, they have upgraded their models to have all the comfort, style, space and fuel efficiency features that only cars had before. Today, not only businessmen and construction companies are able to benefit from pickup trucks but families even with children as well. If pickup trucks have all the benefits that every car has with the addition of ample space at the rear for storage, one cannot deny that choosing a pickup truck over a car whether to ride or to drive is truly a wiser decision.

Landcruiser–At Home on the Road, and Off It

November 22nd, 2010

You leave your home in your vehicle. You drive thirty miles to your worksite. You get out and look back in the direction that you can from. Your home is no where to be seen. You have driven across barren rock, through a small, dense group of trees and lastly through two hundred yards of mud to reach the location where you are now. Your Prius could not have made it. Your Tocoma may have had difficulty with some of the rocky terrain. Your Toyota Landcruiser lived up to its name however.

The individual that was responsible for naming the Toyota Landcruiser had something particular in mind. That something particular was the Landrover. The name Landcruiser was intended to convey a compare and contrast. Both vehicles might take you over the same thing, but the cruiser would do it with a certain amoung of prestige.

When your vehicle is based in a lineage that was shaped by the demands of major military and government groups prestige may be inherent in the design. When a single car line has the wealth of knowledge that comes from designing vehicles for multiple such groups the result is well something that truly can cruise through much of what the everyday driver might put it into. This is the birth of the Toyota Landcruiser. From its beginnings through the demands of the Japanese Army through the US Army and on the designers have built on what they have learned and pressed forward to provide more for their immediate prompters and subsequently for the market consumer that may after all have quite the commute some days.

The Toyota Landcruiser does have a solid core, but there are a number of options that can empower the driver to go on to even greater challenges as well. Among these that are enclosed systems with exhaust above the cab. Options such as this abound through the dealer like PicknBuy24.com and in the aftermarket. This combination of both Toyota and individual manufacturers can truly enable the consumer to go and do whatever they want to in their Toyota Landcruiser.

For an idea of what is being offered you can visit the Toyota site and view the many optional components at this time. There are some amazing features such as crawl control and others that make off-roading nearly as straight forward as driving to the corner store. It is not limited to the entry-level though. Thanks to the performance that exists in the vehicle right off the lot, there is a lot that can be done in your SUV immediately. For those that want to lay hands on the thing though the aftermarket options will satisfy.

Turning your new vehicle into a project is something that many off-roaders look forward to. Those that are wanting the option of doing this in the future may beam when they look through the many sites that return on a search of aftermarket components and accessories. There is also a considerable selection of used vehicles in this model. This makes it more affordable for some people that are looking for a project vehicle instead of a new one that they may work on in the future. With the solid build of these models a number of the used ones are able to perform without any work and can be maintained for years to come without considerable replacements.

There is something to be said for the quality of ride that these vehicles can provide on the road as well. For those that appreciate this aspect, be certain that you consider it when you are “upgrading”, since it can have a marked impact.

Hilux Vigo–A Different Kind of Pickup Truck

November 18th, 2010

Toyota has always managed to stand up to its name as one of the most reputable among the popular car manufacturing companies in the world. By producing the Hilux Vigo, they have again placed themselves in the frontline for their superior quality vehicles.

The Hilux Vigo was released in 2004 and has been extremely popular since. It has earned credits for being the world’s best selling 4×4 diesel pickup truck. It has broken many sales records due to its success. To better develop their product and provide improved service, Toyota has given their Hilux Vigo a minor upgrade for added safety. With these enhancements, it has been given luxury and a more attractive appearance.

The new front bumper design makes it look tougher. They’ve also added more chromium to the front grill which makes it have the effect of an SUV than a standard pickup truck. The already stylish look of the rear bumper has been enhanced further with chrome. They have changed the tail lights and installed new crystal tower rear lights for longer-range version and added protection.

Its driver seat is electronically operated as SUV’s. This allows the driver to adjust it in 6 directions, making it more comfortable to drive even on long trips. There is a new interior color which is sand beige. They have also added an option for their customers to upgrade the power of their vehicles to VN Turbo. Included in these changes are wheel upgrades. A cruise control is a function that has been added, again for a more comfortable ride especially for remote travels and to save more on fuel consumption.

The Optitron Digital Meter is one feature of the Toyota Fortuner. It has now been added to the new Hilux Vigo 2009 model with illuminated meters for clarity and is equipped with adjustable lights. The door’s controls are metallic with a gear shift made of leather and steering wheel is in leather too. Its seats are all in leather and also the same for the door panels.

Since the passenger compartment is large, it now has the comfort that only SUV’s were able to possess before. This Toyota Hilux Vigo also comes with a cover sheet for crash protection preventing the underbody of the pickup truck to be protected in case of collisions. This makes the vehicle a lot safer and gives confidence to the driver and also to his passengers as well no matter how far the trip would take.

Unlike other pickup trucks, this one is higher from the ground thus able to move through any obstacles it may encounter. Before, pickup trucks were used mostly to tow vehicles, transport goods and lift cargo. It didn’t cater much to the rider’s comfort. Toyota now has one that fully cares not only about its riders’ safety but their comfort too which has been given much priority.

Many satisfied customers affirm that it is a unique kind of pickup truck which is reliable and secure while being fast and durable. Safety has always been a commitment of Toyota to its customers and with the ABS break feature in the Vigo, nothing can compare to the protection it gives. Before, drivers used to fear road obstacles that forced them to step hard on the breaks as this turns the light weight pickup around. Now with ABS and speed control features, one can go around places without so much worrying to do. Luxury and quality partnered with performance at its most, and with the excellent customer service PicknBuy24.com has always given to its customers, what more is there to ask for?

Landcruiser–The Original SUV is Still the Best

November 11th, 2010

Toyota has given us a tried and true vehicle that is the FJ40 Landcruiser. Thus, the success of the FJ Cruiser relies heavily on it. With its white top with bezelled oval headlight and grille, it does have an independent front suspension and the top is not removable. This discouraged a lot of Toyota diehards and hardcore enthuasiasts. Many of them wanted a Landcruiser that can provide modernized creature comforts without sacrificing the hardened corners of the original design.

A man from New Mexico by the name of Erik Niemeyer tried his own hand in making his personal interpretation of the vehicle. Instead of purchasing a new FJ Cruiser, he customized a rust free 1976 FJ40. He wanted to keep the feel and presence of the original Landcruiser because it had such handy off-road capabilities and gave such comfort for everyday driving. It was no easy task. Niemeyer had to require numerous consultations from several shops before he found the one that would surely meet all goals. His FJ40 had a full makeover at the Proffitt’s Cruisers at Colarado. The whole process took more than nine months to complete but Niemeyer was unfazed by the long period it would take to achieve his dream car as he planned to owning and maintaining it for the rest of his life.

The first thing to notice while in the passenger seat of Niemeyer’s Landcruiser is how effortlessly the engine sprang to life with a simple twist of a key. The reason for this was that the modified FJ40 has the FJ62 engine which is a fuel-injected 3FE engine. The engine itself still has that tractor type sound of the stock 2F but it now has the reliabilty and mileage of the fuel injection technology. A Safari Snorkel feeds clean air to the engine and the exhaled air goes through a custom 2 and a half inch exhaust equipped with a Flowmaster muffler. From there, power is directed through another transplanted Toyota H55F five-speed with manual transmission. This is backed up by a late 1980’s Landcruiser model equipped with a “split” transfer case with a low range of 2.26:1.

The stock axles and frontal brakes were retained ever since 1976 where disc brakes mounted on the front of the FJ40 were offered for the first time. The differentials still have the stock 3.73 gears although they have been upgraded with ARB Air Lockers for smoother handling and increased traction on the trail. A Viair compressor powers up the lockers and it is also used to put air to the tires after a full day of driving. Steering can still be quite difficult even with the ARBs unlocked with the default manual steering and its many clumsy tie rod ends. To resolve this, the guys at Proffitt’s Cruisers installed Saginaw power steering to the vehicle to improve precision and reduce bump steer and wandering. The drivetrain is topped off with the installation of Longfield axles to replace the stock Birfields which are quite prone to cracking especially during severe abuse.

Here’s a summary of the modifications to Niemeyer’s special used Landcruiser from PicknBuy24.com. A Safari Snorkel was installed to allow only cool and clean air to come into the airbox of the 3FE engine. A Viair compressor provides the ARB Air Lockers and also airs up the tires at the end of the drive. Original, factory emblems were put in place to recreate and complete the restoration. Saginaw power steering was given to the vehicle for reliable steering off-road and on city highways. This is one crucial upgrade of the modification. Optima Yellow top with deep cycle battery fires up the fuel-injected 3FE engine that has been transplanted from a FJ62 Landcruiser.

Harrier – A Crossover Like No Other

November 5th, 2010

A Harrier, now more popularly known as Lexus Rx, is a mid-size crossover vehicle that is considered as one of the most popular luxury SUV in the world. It is not surprising, considering that it was able to combine the utility and efficiency of a Sports Utility Vehicle while maintaining the luxurious characteristics of a top of the line sedan. It is a testament to its world class design and engineering that it has consistently form part of the best-selling group of luxurious vehicles in the U.S.
As a mid-size luxury vehicle that offers a wide range of alternatives to its prospective owners. To begin with, it is either hybrid or V6-powered. It may also be either front wheel drive or a four wheel drive vehicle.
Because of its commercial success, it has inspired other automakers to venture into similar production. Its longevity in the market, however, may be attributed to its quality workmanship, excellent engineering and superb design.
The Toyota Harrier originated as concept of Lexus in February of the year 1997. It was touted as a “Sport Luxury Vehicle”. In actual fact, it is a prototype of a crossover SUV. Its debut was held at the Chicago Auto Show.
In the beginning, two engines were made available, one which produced 139 horsepower and one with 219 horsepower. All vehicle models were fitted with automatic transmission. Even then, front wheel and four wheel drive options were on the offer. Being a luxury crossover vehicle, its platform were basically pattered from the Camry model, the latter being the standard for luxury sedans.
In line with its luxurious design, it was fitted with leather seat covers, wood finish, rear seats that recline and slide individually, a console with spacious storage drawers. It also has a stellar sound system, with options for further upgrades. On the outside, it features mirrors that are heated, headlights that have automatic light sensing capabilities.
Its release was welcomed in the market such that it was instantly a sales success.
In the drive to further improve the Harrier, certain additional features and minor changes were incorporated in the first generation Harrier. Thus, in 2001, it has released several features incorporated with the vehicle. It includes an automatic vehicle navigation system that is GPS linked and a steering wheel that is crafted with leather and wood. Consistent with its constant move to improve itself, it has released in 2002, a “Coach Edition”, incorporating therein the quality and design of “Coach”. Needless to say, this was offered for a limited period only.
January 2003 saw the unveiling of the second generation of Toyota Harrier. This time around, the model exhibits a sleeker and more streamlined design. It also has LED tail lights. Moreover, additional comfort characteristics were incorporated to the vehicle. It has provided outstanding entertainment system which includes options for a premier sound system – audio by Mark Levinson – and DVD players in the rear seat equipped with head phones that are wireless. Add to the mix is the option of having a model with a moon roof that is multi-panelled and panoramic in nature.
In terms of safety, the Harrier will not be left behind by its competitors. An example of their concern for passengers and drivers alike is the inclusion of eight air bag feature, which includes one for the driver’s knees. Some models also have voice-controlled navigation system which also includes “bread crumbs” or a system where a driver is able to retrace or go back to its previous destinations and routes.

In view of the foregoing, it is a given that the third generation Harrier would be better, in terms of engine, design, engineering and production. What is most striking is the impetus to produce a more fuel efficient vehicles. On this front, the latest generation of Harrier delivers. Cutting edge technology is also integrated in this model. Examples include voice recognition system, high grade LED lamps, cameras to show blind spots, and a whole host of features for excellent driving experience.

Clearly, the Harrier’s continuous development and willingness to venture outside of its comfort zone, notwithstanding its acclaims, is a point which makes it clear that indeed, it is a crossover like no other.
